Workshop conducted in Graphic Era on ” Sustainable Water Conservation and Management in Hilly Region of Uttarakhand”

Dehradun:Under the aegis of Indian Water Resources Society a one day workshop conducted on
“Sustainable Water Conservation and Management in Hilly Region of Uttarakhand” at Graphic Era Deemed to be University.
The main objective was to aware the importance of water conservation and it’s management for future.
The event was started with speech on the theme by HoD of Civil Department,Graphic Era, Dr. Sanjeev Kumar
and followed by speech by Pro V.C. Dr. H.N.Nagraja and Chancellor Dr. R. C. Joshi about various aspects of water conservation.
Dr Deepak Khare Professor from IIT Roorkee explained the importance of Rain water harvesting as an emerging technology in this increasing urbanization.
The second expert Dr Deepak Kumar from Pantnagar told about the alarming situation of ground water contamination.
The third expert Dr. Bhaskar R. Nikam from IIRS Dehradun explained the importance of Remote Sensing in analysing the snow cover and glaciers.
Various schemes run by the Govt of India under Jal Sanrakshan Abhiyan and its vital role in making the nation strong and successful were also explained by Dr. L. N. Thakural, Scientist C, NIH Roorkee.
In this workshop the experts from IIT Roorkee, NIH Roorkee, IIRS Dehradun and from G. B. Pant University Pantnagar participated.
Beside them Dr. Sanjeev Kumar, Mr. Nitin Mishra (Faculty Advisor IWRS Student Chapter Dehradun Centre) Mr. Amit Kumar Sharma, K.K. Pandey other Faculty Member of the Civil Engineering Department and many students from Graphic Era University, G.B.Pant University Pantnagar and other Engineering Colleges also participated in the workshop.
